Valsuer Military

Doctrine and Tactics

Due to the ever present Sanctorian Church in all manners of state affairs. The military of Valsuer has had to adapt to meet church requirements and operational needs. The Valsuer government has given priority to the Navy over the Army.

Army

The army is made up of mostly conscripts with a small cadre of professional offices and Master-at-Arms.

• The conscripts serve 2 years

• Training is centralized, then conscripts are assigned to a regiment.

• Due to the lack of firearms, most conscripts are pikemen.

• Conscripts showing fortitude and courage are selected for training in the Fusil MK1 Firearm

After conscription, some conscripts are offered contracts for Master-at-Arms and are promoted accordingly.

Navy

The navy is staffed by volunteer applicants. All seaman are under contract for initial 4 years. Officers are under 6 year commissions.

• Training for officers and enlisted is centralized.

• Some enlisted are offered training in skilled trades school

• Most navy positions are trained at the duty station.

  • The Light Source: A high-intensity oil lamp using refined whale or seed oil, placed in front of a parabolic silver mirror to project a beam. The Shutter Mechanism: A series of horizontal wooden or brass slats (louvers) connected to a hand-trigger. When the trigger is pulled, the slats "shudder" open, releasing the beam.
