Highrealm of Borgravia

Overview
Borgravia spans a wide and rugged terrain of taiga forests, fertile river valleys, and snow-clad highlands. Its capital, Gormond, is situated at the confluence of three major rivers: the Czersk, the Droska, and the Merin. These rivers form the lifeblood of Borgravian commerce, travel, and agriculture.
The climate is harsh and seasonal, with the northern areas having short, intense summers and long, frigid winters. The Central and Southern regions are more temperate. Much of the population is concentrated in the four major cities and ten smaller towns that dot the river basins and inland trade routes.
Government
Borgravia is an autocratic monarchy, ruled by the Vohzd, whose authority is absolute and divinely sanctioned through the Sanctorian Church. The monarch is advised by a small council (Voivoda) composed of high nobles, ecclesiastical figures, and senior military officers.
The High Realm is divided into four Low-Realms, each governed by a hereditary Voynar. The Voynar oversee tax collection, justice, and local defense within their Low Realm, and each maintains a semi-independent court loyal to the Vohzd.
Even though Borgravian government is autocratic in nature, The four Voynar Great Houses wield significant influence. However, the Vohzd pits Voynar against each other to maintain power.
Economy
The Borgravian economy is based on four pillars: foodstuffs, timber, metalworks, and textiles. Despite its isolationist tendencies, Borgravia trades actively within Valseur, Cavasson and Ponterra.
Agriculture: Root vegetables, rye, barley, and hardy livestock are staples of Borgravian farming.
Timber: The vast northern and eastern forests yield quality lumber, resins, and furs. Shipbuilding is the main industry of Navarosk.
Metalworks: Blacksmiths, armorers, and artisans operate iron and silver foundries, especially in Gormond, Bulikov and Kravona.
Textiles: Heavy wool, leather, and dyed linen garments are produced in Volchimir and other textile centers.
Guilds operate under royal charter but are heavily taxed and monitored by crown-appointed inspectors.
Currency: Korin
Its name symbolizing both royal authority and the “root of value.”
The standard silver coin of the realm, minted with the royal seal on one face and the sigil of the Sanctorian Church on the other.
Common saying: “Not worth a bent Korin” — an insult for something cheap or valueless.
Religion and Culture
Borgravia is firmly aligned with the Sanctorian Church, which wields immense influence in both spiritual and temporal matters.
The Prelature of Gormond is one of the most prestigious Sanctorian sees outside the Sanctorian Protectorate.
Religious processions, feast days, and pilgrimages are common throughout the High Realm.
The Stellarium, the military arm of the Church, has started to actively recruit Borgravians. There are even rumors that a Stellar will be stationed in the High Realm.
The Church operates schools, orphanages, and hospices, and many noble families send their younger sons to become clergy.
Minority religion
However, not all Borgravians follow Church teachings. Many coastal village and hamlets of the Azure Floe and Landbound Sea worship the Twins. There is intermittent persecutions by the Borgravian government when the Church prods them to do something.
Culture
Borgravian culture is marked by stoicism, ancestral reverence, and austere beauty. Music is choral and often sacred; folk tales and epics are shared orally in long, candlelit gatherings during winter. Traditional dress includes fur-lined cloaks, carved wooden jewelry, and embroidered tunics.
Hospitality is sacred, and the Rite of the Hearth—welcoming a guest with bread, salt, and drink—is a revered custom across all classes.
